Why use fermented ingredients in skincare?

Bioluronic Buzz uses 100% natural bio-fermented hyaluronic acid as its main hydrating ingredient. But what are the benefits of fermented ingredients in your skincare? And what exactly is bio-fermentation? Let’s dig a little deeper into what it means to use them in your routine.

You might be more familiar with fermentation in food, with gut-friendly foods like kimchi, yoghurt, sauerkraut, kombucha and kefir having serious benefits for rebalancing your gut and overall health. The principle’s exactly the same for skincare ingredients.

Fermenting ingredients can mean that they have more probiotics and postbiotics (also known as ‘good bacteria’) like peptides, acids and enzymes in them. This in turn helps to support your skin’s natural microbiome and bacteria balance. This can reduce skin inflammation, sensitivity and help to repair a damaged or compromised skin barrier.
